Embedded Systems Integration Engineer

About the role

The ASUS Robotics & AI Center is looking for an Embedded Systems Integration Engineer to join its global R&D team. The role keeps autonomous mobile robotics platforms performing reliably, covering sensor fusion, motion control configuration and the internal tooling that keeps the systems running. It suits a hands-on engineer who works at the intersection of hardware and software.

Key responsibilities

• Manage firmware configuration so onboard sensors are used optimally across different operational environments.
• Tune and optimize motion control parameters (PID loops) and state estimation filters (EKF) for stable, precise motion.
• Investigate critical system failures by analyzing logs, find the root cause and recommend solutions.
• Architect and debug communication links between embedded controllers and peripherals using UART, Ethernet, I2C and SPI.
• Develop and maintain internal CLI tools (Python/Bash) for system configuration and debugging.
• Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated testing of embedded systems.
• Work with cross-functional teams through the full development lifecycle of autonomous robotics platforms.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or higher in systems engineering, computer science, electrical engineering or a related field.
• 5+ years of industry experience or equivalent.
• Experience with embedded systems and toolchains, including building and flashing firmware.
• Strong scripting in Python and Bash, including Python-based testing frameworks.
• Good understanding of hardware communication protocols and of PID loops and sensor fusion (e.g. Kalman filters).
• Experience analyzing system logs to diagnose software and sensor failures.
• Git for version control; robotics middleware and hands-on integration of sensors, actuators and companion computers strongly preferred.
