Director, HR Compliance

About the role

Coupang is hiring a Director/Principal of HR Compliance in Taipei. The HR Compliance department is an independent function dedicated to corporate governance, labor-related legal compliance and exemplary workforce management across the organization, acting as strategic advisor to executive leadership on labor relations, regulation and workplace ethics.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and oversee the company-wide HR compliance architecture, including policies, employment regulations, collective bargaining agreements and labor standards frameworks, and advise C-level executives and site leaders on labor issues, restructures and regulatory changes.
• Lead enterprise-wide HR risk assessments using data analytics to detect compliance anomalies in working hours, compensation, foreign labor management and employee relations, and oversee data solutions that monitor and fix compliance gaps.
• Build, implement and audit governance controls for global mobility, cross-border workforce and foreign workers, covering visas, residency status, labor quotas and anti-discrimination mandates.
• Lead, mentor and build a team of HR compliance experts, set strategic goals and promote continuous learning and proactive compliance awareness across business units.

Required profile

• Master's or Bachelor's degree in Law, Human Resources Management, Business Administration or a related field.
• 15+ years of progressive experience in HR compliance, labor relations or employment law, with at least 5+ years in a senior leadership or people management role within a large multinational or high-growth tech/e-commerce organization.
• Deep expertise in the Labor Standards Act, Union Law and Occupational Safety and Health regulations.
• Executive presence with strong stakeholder management, conflict resolution and change management.
• Preferred: licensed attorney or certified HR/labor relations professional, hands-on experience with HR digital transformation, HR data analytics tools or automated compliance auditing tools, and proven experience across white-collar, logistics/warehouse frontline and foreign technical labor populations.
