Customer Engineer – Field Service

About the role

As a Customer Engineer (Field Service Engineer) at Applied Materials, you will act as the primary liaison with semiconductor fab customers, installing, maintaining and upgrading advanced equipment. You will use digital analytics and basic diagnostic techniques to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues while ensuring high equipment uptime.

Key responsibilities

• Perform Tier I service activities independently and Tier II with assistance.
• Execute routine preventative maintenance on electrical, vacuum, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic and gas systems within established timeframes.
• Conduct quality repairs and verify operational quality of equipment unassisted.
• Communicate with customers and internal engineers to resolve fab issues and participate in escalation calls.
• Support preparation and delivery of technical issue reports to internal and external stakeholders.

Required profile

• Physically able to work in clean‑room environments, lift up to 35 lb, and use hand/power tools.
• Willingness to wear PPE such as coveralls, safety glasses, gloves and respirators.
• Ability to read circuit diagrams and follow detailed checklists and procedures.
• Commitment to safety, IP guidelines and knowledge‑management practices.
