Temporary Industrial Designer (6‑month contract)

About the role

Satechi is looking for a temporary Industrial Designer to join the Product team for a six‑month assignment while a team member is on leave. The role is hands‑on, supporting active projects from concept through production, and requires quick integration into ongoing work.

Key responsibilities

• Support active industrial design projects from concept development through design refinement.
• Rapidly get up to speed with existing project briefs, schedules, design decisions, and open action items.
• Create sketches, renderings, CAD models, presentation materials and prototypes that clearly communicate design intent.
• Refine product form, ergonomics, usability, materials, colors, finishes and details based on market trends and user feedback.
• Prepare and maintain accurate ID CAD files, CMF plans, rating labels and other documentation for development and manufacturing partners.
• Review prototypes and samples, support usability testing and translate feedback into practical design improvements.
• Collaborate with product management, engineering, packaging, marketing and operations to balance customer needs, brand standards, technical requirements, cost and schedule.
• Participate in weekly design reviews, communicating recommendations, risks and decisions.
• Track design deliverables, decisions and follow‑up items to keep projects organized and moving.
• Ensure all assigned products remain consistent with Satechi’s visual identity and quality standards.
• Provide clear project documentation and an organized handoff at the end of the assignment.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design or a related field.
• 2‑4 years of professional industrial design experience, preferably with consumer electronics, technology accessories or similarly detailed products.
• Strong portfolio demonstrating product development from early concepts to manufactured products.
• Ability to work independently, join projects already in progress and collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams.
• Strong visual sense and attention to detail.

Required skills

• Proficiency in SolidWorks or comparable 3D CAD software.
• Proficiency in KeyShot and Adobe Creative Suite.
• Experience with 3D printing technologies and creating physical prototypes.
• Working knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials such as plastics, metals, CNC machining, injection molding, extrusion and surface finishes.
