Staff Systems Engineer – Infrastructure Automation & Virtualization

About the role

Cadence is seeking a Staff Systems Engineer to lead infrastructure automation and virtualization initiatives. You will design, build, and maintain IaC frameworks that support on‑premises and hybrid cloud environments, while providing hands‑on expertise for Nutanix, KVM, and VMware platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Design and maintain Terraform and Ansible IaC solutions for compute, storage, and networking resources.
• Develop Python and Bash scripts to automate operational tasks and integrate with CI/CD pipelines.
• Build and manage CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions or equivalent tooling.
• Administer Nutanix (AHV, Prism, AOS), KVM, and VMware vSphere/ESXi, ensuring performance and capacity targets.
• Support hybrid cloud operations across AWS and/or Azure, integrating on‑premises resources with cloud services.
• Monitor infrastructure health with Prometheus, Grafana, and Datadog, and lead incident response and root‑cause analysis.
• Create and maintain documentation, runbooks, and infrastructure standards.
• Participate in security and compliance reviews, applying hardening and policy‑as‑code.
• Mentor junior engineers through pair programming, code reviews, and knowledge sharing.

Required profile

• 5–8 years of infrastructure engineering experience with a focus on automation and IaC.
• Expert‑level proficiency in Terraform, writing modular HCL for multi‑environment deployments.
• Strong hands‑on experience with Ansible for idempotent configuration management.
• Proficiency in Python and Bash scripting.
