Staff Engineer, Digital Design Engineering

About the role

Analog Devices, a global semiconductor company, is looking for an experienced Staff Digital IC Design Engineer to lead the design and development of high-performance MCU/DSP/NPU products for physical intelligence applications. The role sits within the Technology, Product and Operations group and involves leading RTL digital design and working closely with the verification team.

Key responsibilities

• Define and develop system-level architectures for complex digital designs.
• Lead RTL digital design for complex blocks and subsystems, driving key micro-architecture decisions that balance performance, power and area.
• Document detailed block and subsystem-level design specifications and implementation results.
• Work with the verification team on verification planning, waveform debug, regression, troubleshooting and coverage sign-off.
• Support digital implementation tasks such as lint, CDC, constraints, synthesis, formal verification, ECO, timing and power closure.
• Support silicon bring-up, characterization and debug activities.
• Guide methodology improvements and best practices across the organization, including applying AI tools to design automation, optimization and modeling workflows.

Required profile

• M.S. in Electrical Engineering with at least 7 years, or Ph.D. with at least 5 years, of digital IC / SoC design experience.
• Ability to independently lead the design and development of circuit blocks or complete systems, from architecture and design through silicon validation and product debug.
• Excellent communication skills with cross-functional stakeholders, self-driven and resilient.

Required skills

• Strong hands-on expertise in RTL design, digital architecture and SoC integration.
• Solid understanding of block-level and system-level verification methodologies and flows.
• Familiarity with EDA flows (synthesis, STA, verification) and scripting languages such as Python, Tcl or Perl.
• Knowledge of computer architecture, digital signal processing and CPU/DSP/NPU is a plus; awareness of AI-assisted design tools is also a plus.
