Software Engineer – Audio Device Specialist

About the role

Fairphone is looking for an experienced Audio Device Software Specialist to lead the development of software for its audio products, including over‑ear headphones, TWS earbuds and future accessories. You will act as the main software liaison between Fairphone and ODM partners, ensuring that product concepts are translated into high‑quality, performant software features.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with Product Management, Audio Design, Hardware Engineering and Mobile App teams to define software requirements and feature specifications.
• Translate product concepts into clear, actionable software specifications for ODM implementation.
• Define user interaction flows, button behaviours, companion‑app features and overall UI/UX behaviour.
• Guide SDK integration, oversee feature planning and ensure software release readiness throughout the product lifecycle.
• Resolve technical issues, conduct testing and validate performance against quality standards.
• Maintain regular communication with ODM partners and coordinate travel to headquarters, supplier sites and trade fairs as needed.

Required profile

• Proactive, self‑motivated team player with strong communication skills.
• Comfortable working in a fast‑moving start‑up or scale‑up environment.
• Willingness to travel and attend meetings across multiple time zones.
• Commitment to Fairphone’s sustainability mission and inclusive culture.
• Availability to work on‑site in Taipei at least two days per week.
