Software Director, Engineering

About the role

Qualcomm is seeking a Software Director to provide technical leadership and strategic direction for the development, integration, and delivery of software across the full embedded stack. The role will define software architecture for IE‑IOT programs, align solutions with product requirements and long‑term business objectives, and partner with hardware, systems and product teams to drive execution.

Key responsibilities

• Drive technical execution across multiple software layers, including boot ROM, bootloader, Linux kernel modules, Zephyr RTOS, NPU drivers and user‑space applications.
• Make high‑impact decisions on program success, financial performance and schedule alignment.
• Collaborate with hardware, systems, product stakeholders and tier‑1 partners to resolve integration issues and prioritize technical work.
• Define and communicate software architecture, technical direction and performance optimization strategies for IE‑IOT platforms.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• 8+ years of embedded software development across the full software stack.
• 4+ years of supervisory or people‑management experience.
• Prior experience working in a System‑on‑Chip (SoC) design house.

Required skills

• Proficiency in C, C++, Rust and Java.
• Deep knowledge of embedded platforms, including boot ROM, bootloader, Linux kernel modules, Zephyr RTOS, NPU drivers and user‑space APIs.
• Experience with Qualcomm IE‑IOT software stack and Qualcomm Linux.
• Familiarity with IP‑camera, industrial IoT and robotics applications.
