Senior Counsel – Academic & Research Contracts

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Counsel to lead contract drafting, review and negotiations with academic and research institutions worldwide, and to support R&D, business development and operations at TSMC. The role provides strategic legal advice on a range of corporate, IP and commercial matters in a fast‑paced, global environment.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, negotiate and review academic research, joint development and licensing agreements, ensuring alignment with TSMC’s technical and business objectives.
• Provide early legal support for partner collaborations, including drafting and commercial advice.
• Manage R&D, BD and operations contracts such as licensing and joint development agreements.
• Offer legal counsel on research engagements, business transactions, operational issues and intellectual‑property matters to mitigate risk.
• Maintain strong relationships with overseas research institutions and internal stakeholders.

Required profile

• JD or LLM from a top‑tier US or UK law school with excellent academic record.
• 5–8 years of in‑house legal experience, qualified attorney license, and proven track record in corporate and contract matters.
• Native‑level proficiency in written and spoken English for cross‑border negotiations.
• Exceptional attention to detail, strong analytical abilities and effective communication in a global corporate setting.
