Senior Backend Engineer (SRE / Reliability & Performance)

About the role

Appier is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer who will combine backend development expertise with site reliability engineering. You will design and build high‑throughput services while owning their reliability, observability, and performance as traffic scales beyond 10k QPS.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable, reliable backend services.
• Define SLO/SLA targets, manage error budgets, and conduct capacity planning.
• Profile, benchmark, and tune components to eliminate latency and throughput bottlenecks.
• Diagnose and resolve production incidents, lead post‑mortems, and implement corrective engineering work.
• Improve observability (logging, metrics, tracing) and refine incident‑management processes.
• Build and optimize CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation for safe, frequent releases.
• Conduct code reviews, mentor engineers, and collaborate across cross‑functional teams.
• Participate in on‑call rotation to ensure service reliability.

Required profile

• 5+ years of backend software development experience with hands‑on SRE or reliability responsibilities.
• Proven track record of tuning system reliability and performance for production services.
• Experience handling high‑traffic, large‑scale systems (QPS > 10k).
• Strong problem‑solving skills for traffic spikes, hot paths, and cascading failures.
• Ability to lead incident response and produce blameless post‑mortems.
