Product Development Engineer - Mask Inspection Platform

About the role

KLA, a global leader in electronics for the semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem, is looking for a Product Development Engineer to join its RAPID division, which provides reticle inspection solutions to mask shops and semiconductor fabs. The engineer will lead the development of the next generation mask inspection platform, coordinating across mechanical, electron optics, electrical, software and other systems engineers to meet technical, schedule and budgetary requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Requirements development, system design and testing of sophisticated inspection systems
• Calibrate, characterize and verify the performance of electron beam systems
• Diagnose and resolve tool issues, identifying root causes
• Plan and coordinate tool activities with internal engineering teams
• Provide onsite and remote technical support at customer cleanrooms
• Analyze system and performance data, identify trends and share findings with engineering and customers
• Collaborate across global teams and time zones, and help onboard and develop newer engineers
• Travel to customer sites as needed (up to 25% travel)

Required profile

• Minimum qualification: doctorate with 0 years of related experience, master's degree with 3 years, or bachelor's degree with 5 years of related experience
• Experience taking projects from requirements through first article testing and handing them off to manufacturing is preferred
• Background in optics, physics or a related field is preferred
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong attention to detail

Required skills

• Knowledge of charged particle dynamics theory (preferred)
• Basic image processing and computer vision knowledge (preferred)
• Electron gun and HV design knowledge (preferred)
• Semiconductor inspection, metrology or comparable precision optical/electronic systems experience (preferred)
• Sensor characterization and signal/data analysis knowledge (preferred)
