Java Backend Engineer – Global Travel Rule

About the role

Binance, a leading global blockchain ecosystem, is building compliance and analytics products for the Global Travel Rule. As a Java Backend Engineer you will design, develop, and operate backend services that power these critical regulatory solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain backend services and RESTful APIs for compliance and analytics.
• Own features end‑to‑end, from technical design through deployment and monitoring.
• Build data pipelines that ingest, normalise, and index on‑chain activity across multiple blockchains.
• Contribute to the architecture of new compliance capabilities.
• Model data and optimise queries against relational and NoSQL stores at scale.
• Collaborate with compliance and product specialists to translate regulatory requirements into technical designs.
• Improve reliability, observability, and performance of existing services.
• Leverage AI‑assisted development tools to increase output quality and speed.

Required profile

• 3+ years of experience building production backend systems in Java.
• Strong command of Spring Boot, JVM fundamentals, concurrency and memory management.
• Solid SQL knowledge and data modelling experience, with ability to diagnose slow queries.
• Experience designing and operating web‑facing services at scale (caching, rate limiting, idempotency).
• Fluent in both Chinese and English, spoken and written.
• Daily use of AI coding agents such as Claude or Codex, understanding their strengths and limits.
• Comfortable working with unfamiliar codebases and taking ownership of existing code.
• Genuine interest in compliance products and the regulatory problems they solve.
