Engineering Manager - Stock Trading App

About the role

BJAK, the leading insurance platform in Southeast Asia, is looking for an Engineering Manager to lead a high-performing engineering team behind products used by millions of users. The manager leads engineers, makes sound architecture and engineering decisions and drives products from idea to production, owning both the quality of the team and the quality and speed of delivery. The role is hybrid, with at least three days per week in the local office.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage engineers across frontend, backend and full stack development.
• Own engineering delivery for major product areas, shipping quickly without compromising reliability and quality.
• Work with product, design, mobile, backend and AI teams to turn ambiguous product problems into clear technical execution.
• Drive architecture and engineering decisions across APIs, databases, integrations, infrastructure and customer-facing systems.
• Set standards for code quality, system design, testing, observability, security and production reliability.
• Develop engineers through feedback, coaching and performance management, and improve processes, tooling and automation.
• Monitor systems, resolve incidents, find root causes and prevent recurrence; build a culture of ownership, speed and technical excellence.

Required profile

• Strong software engineering background with experience shipping real production systems.
• Experience leading or managing engineers and owning engineering delivery.
• Strong technical depth across backend, frontend, APIs, databases, distributed systems or cloud infrastructure.
• Able to make sound technical trade-offs and take products from idea through launch and production.
• Comfortable reviewing designs, challenging decisions and debugging complex production issues.
• Strong people leadership, product sense and ownership mentality.
• Based in, or able to work from, the advertised location; English is the main working language.

The interview process is fast: online assessment or practical task, then a technical/engineering leadership interview and a CEO/final round, with offers aimed within a week of starting interviews.
