Engineering Director, Home and Health

About the role

Google is seeking an Engineering Director to lead the Device Software organization within its Home business. You will drive the development of market‑leading smart home hardware, bringing advanced AI capabilities to devices such as smart cameras, hubs, displays, and speakers.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute multi‑year technical roadmaps for device software across first‑party and third‑party ecosystems.
• Build, mentor, and inspire a high‑performing engineering culture focused on technical excellence and user obsession.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional partners to align product strategy and roadmap.
• Lead the Taiwan engineering site, fostering culture, alignment, and operational excellence.
• Oversee end‑to‑end software development for smart cameras, hubs, and other home devices, ensuring quality, performance, and scalability.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 15+ years of engineering experience, including full‑stack, client, and front‑end development.
• Proven track record taking hardware products from concept to market release.
• Deep expertise in kernel/OS software, firmware bring‑up, system‑level debugging, and hardware collaboration.
• High emotional intelligence and demonstrated ability to build and lead high‑performing teams in fast‑shifting environments.
