BMC Firmware Engineer (Server)

About the role

AMD is seeking a BMC Firmware Engineer to design, develop, and maintain firmware for Baseboard Management Controllers used in AMD server platforms. The role involves close collaboration with platform engineers and architects across multiple IP blocks, covering both pre‑silicon and post‑silicon phases.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, debug, verify, and validate BMC firmware and related software/hardware.
• Participate in day‑to‑day firmware development tasks.
• Support customers with root‑cause analysis and issue resolution.
• Contribute to requirement analysis and architecture discussions to translate needs into technical specifications.
• Develop validation scripts, unit tests, and documentation to ensure reliable firmware.
• Collaborate with internal and external teams, perform code and design reviews, and manage release processes.

Required skills

• Server management standards: IPMI, Redfish, MCTP/PLDM.
• OpenBMC implementation experience.
• ARM‑based SoC architectures.
• Low‑level hardware interfaces: I2C, I3C, SPI, UART, GPIO, JTAG.
• D‑Bus, SystemD, Device Tree (DTS) configuration.
• Programming languages: C, C++, Python, Shell scripting.
• U‑Boot, Linux kernel, driver and application development.
• Knowledge of AMD RAS and APML (optional).
