Algorithm Engineer

About the role

KLA, a global leader in electronics for the semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem, is hiring an Algorithm Engineer in Hsinchu. The role sits within the Global Products Group's Broadband Plasma Division, which supplies optical inspection systems for advanced IC manufacturing. The engineer supports algorithm development and troubleshooting for IC yield-limiting defects, working with customers and the product system engineering team.

Key responsibilities

• Provide algorithm technical support for escalations across product life-cycle phases, onsite.
• Work with TSMC's business unit, GSS, and customers to address issues and investigate solutions.
• Analyze the signal and noise characteristics of current and emerging IC yield-limiting defects, formulate algorithmic solutions and validate them by simulation and prototyping.
• Investigate the feasibility of advanced algorithms for next-generation products with the technology and system architecture groups.
• Deliver prototype algorithm solutions for special customer engagement projects at customer sites.
• Work with the product system engineering team to define algorithm performance specifications and guide design and implementation.
• Act as algorithm representative during system-level hardware/software integration and troubleshooting.
• Take part in software quality assurance activities required by the software development process.
• Occasional travel to headquarters (less than 5%).

Required profile

• Minimum qualification: doctorate (academic) degree with 0 years of related work experience, or a master's degree with 3 years of related work experience.
• Strong problem analysis and solving skills, curiosity and willingness to learn new technologies.
• Solid theoretical background in signal and image processing and computer vision.
• Effective communicator, able to share technical information with functional teams and give executive-level reports to management and customers.

Required skills

• Research and/or software development experience on Unix/Linux and Windows platforms.
• Proficiency in C/C++ and solid CUDA programming skills.
• Throughput optimization experience is desired.
