System Engineer

About the role

As a Systems Engineer at Applied Materials, you will design, integrate, and optimize complex semiconductor systems, collaborating with cross‑functional teams to deliver advanced solutions that meet the highest quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and execute complex projects involving electrical, mechanical, physics, algorithm, and software design.
• Conduct architecture brainstorming, create system diagrams, and select final top‑level system designs.
• Write detailed specifications for subsystems and interfaces, and drive system integration during assembly and final testing.
• Identify, troubleshoot, and mitigate engineering problems, ensuring serviceability and manufacturability.
• Collaborate with vendors and suppliers to develop competitive products and key components.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
• 7–10 years of experience in systems engineering or related fields.
• Proven ability to lead multi‑disciplinary projects and work with marketing and management on system requirements.

Required skills

• System architecture and design (electrical, mechanical, software).
• Algorithm development and integration.
• Testing and validation of complex engineering systems.
• Experience with metrology tools such as XCT, VMM, and CMM.
• Technical documentation and specification writing.
