Software Technical Support Engineer II

About the role

The Software (Technical) Support Engineer II provides software support for Applied Materials equipment, analyzing and resolving moderate‑complexity issues, handling high‑value problems, and contributing to software documentation and change notifications. This role works closely with customers and internal teams to ensure reliable operation of semiconductor and display manufacturing tools.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze and collaborate to resolve equipment software application and system issues of moderate complexity, including high‑value problems and systemic bugs.
• Provide customer software support through the Software Ticketing system, ensuring timely updates and reports to stakeholders.
• Create, test, and verify Software Change Notifications and Key Feature Procedures for product software.
• Develop customer‑focused feature documentation for external software features.
• Participate in equipment software specification, design, testing, and documentation reviews as needed for customer requests.
• Assist in training junior engineers and detailed product operation.
• Maintain alignment with group objectives and deliver updates in line with business goals.

• Demonstrates expanded conceptual knowledge in software support and broadens capabilities across related disciplines.
• Understands key business drivers and applies this understanding to accomplish work effectively.
• Provides informal guidance to new team members without formal supervisory responsibilities.
• Solves straightforward problems using technical experience, judgment, and established precedents.
