Site Manager – Customer Engineer (Long‑Term Assignment)

About the role

Applied Materials is a global leader in materials engineering solutions for semiconductor and display manufacturing. The position is based in Taiwan and will involve a two‑year long‑term assignment supporting the TSMC global account in Dresden, Germany. The role combines people management with technical oversight of customer engineering activities.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage professional Customer Engineers serving the TSMC global account, ensuring performance and results.
• Adapt business unit plans to address resource and operational challenges, following company policies.
• Provide technical guidance to employees, colleagues and customers, and act as the primary interface with product divisions.
• Develop and maintain relationships with customers at all levels, conducting regular visits and meetings.
• Oversee salary and career planning, performance appraisals, and coaching for the engineering team.
• Drive financial forecasting, cost efficiency, and margin improvement for the district.
• Manage system installation activities, including planning, reporting, pre‑facility and start‑up meetings.
• Execute escalation procedures, RMA processes, and monitor engineer productivity metrics.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of people‑management or leadership experience.
• At least 10 years of experience in the semiconductor industry, preferably with equipment supplier after‑sales service.
• Proven ability to build long‑term customer relationships.
• Fluent in both English and Chinese (written and spoken).
• Willingness to travel up to 50 % of the time.
