Site Manager – Automated Material Handling Systems

About the role

The Site Manager leads the on‑site installation of automated material handling systems for Vanderlande projects, including overseas assignments. Reporting functionally to the Project Manager, the role ensures safe, on‑time, and on‑budget delivery of complex installations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage the on‑site installation team, including multiple supervisors.
• Organise all HSE activities and ensure compliance with safety standards.
• Develop and maintain the installation project plan covering objectives, organisation, schedule and cost.
• Monitor quality, time, cost and information flow; initiate corrective actions when needed.
• Manage contracts with steelwork and E&M subcontractors and ensure PM2.0 processes are followed.
• Perform quality checks, produce regular progress reports and maintain the snag list until handover.
• Coordinate interfaces between steelwork, mechanical, electrical and control disciplines.
• Oversee delivery, storage and availability of materials and equipment on site.
• Ensure permits, access arrangements and work approvals are properly managed.
• Support commissioning activities and prepare the installation for system testing.

Required profile

• Tertiary education in mechanical, electrical or mechatronics engineering.
• Minimum 3 years experience leading mid‑size or large site‑based teams on material handling projects.
• Experience with MHS/BHS installations; overseas project experience is a plus.
• Fluent English (CET‑6 level or higher) for daily work.
• Strong commercial attitude, planning ability, safety awareness and willingness to travel.
