Senior Director, Process Support Engineer

About the role

Applied Materials, a global leader in materials engineering solutions for semiconductor and display manufacturing, is seeking a Senior Director, Process Support Engineer to lead customer‑focused technical teams in Hsinchu, Taiwan. The role drives technology adoption, provides strategic technical leadership, and ensures high‑value problems are solved for key semiconductor customers.

Key responsibilities

• Engage with customers at department‑head and director levels to identify high‑value problems affecting technology milestones.
• Provide technical leadership in developing DVS solutions across business units to address those problems.
• Collaborate with the Account General Manager to set multi‑year strategies for key accounts.
• Drive adoption of new technology at customer sites through demos, on‑site evaluations, joint development programs, and tool qualifications.
• Manage Process Support Engineers (PSEs) delivering on‑site installation, diagnosis, troubleshooting, service, and repair of complex equipment.
• Oversee technical development of the entire PSE team at the assigned location and mentor new managers.
• Implement training plans to strengthen team capabilities and handle demand planning and financial forecasting.
• Serve as a technology expert across multiple product lines, business units, and integration areas.

Required profile

• MS in Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or a related field.
• 15+ years of semiconductor industry experience in customer engineering, field service, process support, or applications.
• Strong background in semiconductor metrology, inspection, or process control technologies.
• 5+ years leading managers and multi‑level technical organizations.
• Proven track record of supporting strategic semiconductor customers and driving technology adoption.
• Experience managing large technical teams, workforce planning, and business forecasts.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and executive stakeholder management skills.
• Experience with advanced semiconductor manufacturing and integration across multiple technology areas.
