Ocean Operations Specialist

About the role

The role of the Ops Specialist is a critical part of making Flexport’s mission to make global trade easy for everyone a reality. You will work with account management, customs teams, carriers and other partners to support logistics goals and help build the next operational model.

Key responsibilities

• Execute booking and documentation processes with clients and carriers.
• Timely shipment troubleshooting and exception escalation/handling.
• Collaborate with Flexport Account Management and Planning teams to ensure an effective end‑to‑end export process.
• Plan and execute special freight operations such as dangerous goods and reefers.
• Assist associates on new business/process implementation, projects and tasks.
• Support internal and external clients with expert decision‑making.
• Identify business process and software capability needs to scale the team while improving quality, service, efficiency and compliance.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of procedures and systems that differentiate Flexport operations.

Required profile

• BA/BS degree.
• 1‑2 years of experience in logistics, warehousing, freight forwarding, supply chain or consulting (high‑performing fresh graduates may be considered).
• Desire to build better processes and get irritated when things aren’t optimal.
• Hands‑on, process‑oriented, structured thinking with strong problem‑solving capabilities.
• Strategic vision combined with ground‑floor execution.
• Excitement to manage vendor relations and create innovative structures.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Client‑service mindset with obsession for client and squad happiness.
• Exceptional attention to detail.
• Courage to challenge the status quo and fix broken processes.
• Flexibility to work outside office hours, including occasional weekend or night shifts.
