About the role
WSP is seeking a Telecom Design Engineer to lead mission‑critical design work for railway communication systems. The role involves creating detailed designs, specifications and calculations that support sustainable, long‑life telecom infrastructure for rail networks.
Key responsibilities
- Design IP‑MPLS, LTE and OFC networks and interface them with signalling equipment.
- Develop telecom solutions for CBTC, ETCS, GSM‑R, SCADA and passenger‑amenity systems.
- Prepare design basis notes, BOQ specifications and tender documents.
- Conduct site surveys, cable route planning and coordinate gear shifting.
- Collaborate with consultants and clients to ensure design compliance and sustainability outcomes.
Required profile
- Experience preparing tender documents, BOQ and design basis notes.
- Ability to plan the transition from preliminary design to construction phases.
- Strong communication with clients to translate requirements into optimal solutions.
Required skills
- Proficiency with Autodesk Revit MEP and AutoCAD.
- Expertise in IP‑MPLS, LTE, OFC network design.
- Knowledge of railway telecom standards such as CBTC, ETCS, GSM‑R, SCADA and FOIS.
- Capability to perform analysis and calculations for signalling and telecommunication components.
