Engineering Manager - Stock Trading App

About the role

Doit, a leading insurance platform in Southeast Asia founded in 2019, is looking for an Engineering Manager to lead a high-performing engineering team behind products used by millions of users. The manager leads engineers, makes sound architecture and engineering decisions and drives products and systems from idea to production, owning both the quality of the team and the quality and speed of its output. The role is hybrid, with at least three days per week in the local office.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of engineers across frontend, backend and full stack development.
• Own engineering delivery for major product areas, shipping quickly without compromising reliability and quality.
• Work with product, design, mobile, backend and AI teams to turn ambiguous product problems into clear technical execution.
• Drive technical architecture and engineering decisions across APIs, databases, integrations, infrastructure and customer-facing systems.
• Set engineering standards for code quality, system design, testing, observability, security and production reliability.
• Develop engineers through feedback, coaching, performance management and clear expectations, and improve processes, tooling and automation.
• Monitor systems, resolve incidents, identify root causes and prevent recurrence; build a culture of ownership, speed and technical excellence.

Required profile

• Strong software engineering background with experience shipping real production systems.
• Experience leading or managing software engineers and owning engineering delivery.
• Strong technical depth across backend, frontend, APIs, databases, distributed systems or cloud infrastructure.
• Able to make sound architecture and technical trade-offs, and to take products from idea through launch and production.
• Strong people leadership, product sense and ability to work fast with ambiguity.
• Strong English communication; candidates must be based in or able to work from the advertised location.

The interview process is fast: online assessment or practical task, then a technical/engineering leadership interview and a CEO/final round, with offers aimed within a week of starting interviews.
