Algorithm Engineer - Semiconductor Metrology

About the role

KLA develops advanced inspection tools, metrology systems, process solutions and computational analytics for semiconductor manufacturing. As an Algorithm Engineer in Hsinchu, you will research and develop algorithms for next-generation optical metrology solutions, working with customers and internal application teams to turn their technical challenges into algorithmic solutions. The role suits both early-career professionals and experienced engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze complex customer and system issues, identify root causes and develop effective algorithmic solutions.
• Own the full algorithm lifecycle: problem definition, feasibility research, concept development, implementation, qualification testing and on-tool deployment.
• Support qualification, optimization and troubleshooting of algorithms based on system and customer data.
• Work with application, system, software and other engineering teams to deliver robust solutions.
• Analyze complex datasets, evaluate methods and trade-offs, and communicate findings to senior stakeholders and customers.
• Work independently with limited supervision and take ownership of technical challenges.

Required profile

• M.Sc., M.A. or Ph.D. in Engineering, Physics, Applied Mathematics, Optical Engineering or a related field.
• Preferred: Doctorate with 0 years of experience, Master's with 3 years, or Bachelor's with 5 years of related work experience.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, good communication skills, and willingness to support customers hands-on.

Required skills

• Strong background in signal processing and/or image processing.
• Algorithm development and implementation using MATLAB and/or Python.
• Preferred: experience with optical systems, microscopy, computational imaging, optical metrology, or semiconductor metrology and inspection.
