Technical Product Manager - Neobank Superapp
bjakcareer · Taipei
Job description
About the role
BJAK, the leading insurance platform in Southeast Asia, is building a Neobank Superapp for the region. As a Technical Product Manager you will own a product vertical end to end, such as payments and expense management, remittance, insurance or wealth and trading, from strategy, outcomes and roadmap through to the technical design and delivery of the systems behind it. The role is based in Taipei and is hybrid, with at least three days per week in the office.
Key responsibilities
- Own a vertical end to end: outcomes and metrics, a backlog prioritised by value, risk, dependency and strategic priority, and acceptance criteria clear enough to build and test against.
- Shape the technical design with engineering: system boundaries, money-movement correctness (idempotency, ledgering, reconciliation), third-party rails, failure/retry/refund paths, security, latency, scalability and recovery.
- Make hard trade-offs across correctness, speed, cost, reliability and UX, and defend them to engineering, compliance or operations leads.
- Treat regulated constraints as first-class inputs: licensing scope, CDD/KYC and limits, sanctions/PEP screening, transaction monitoring, data residency and privacy, and know which are hard launch gates.
- Apply AI where it earns its place: define what it can decide, where humans stay in the loop, evaluation and fallback, ensuring every AI-surfaced number traces back to a real record.
- Ship behind flags and go live per rail as each partner and regulatory gate clears.
- Work across Engineering, Design, Compliance, Operations, Treasury and Finance/Reconciliation.
Required profile
- Significant experience owning a complex technical product end to end, with strong judgement and decisiveness under ambiguity.
- Experience in a regulated or high-consequence domain (payments, banking, remittance, insurance) or demonstrable fast-ramp ability.
- Hands-on experience with LLM-based products, able to frame features as evaluable and realistic about hallucination, drift and data gaps.
- Nice to have: engineer or highly technical PM background, zero-to-one experience, shipped AI-heavy consumer products, defined eval metrics for ML/LLM systems, AI UX and failure-handling intuition, and SEA market experience.
Required skills
- Solid system design: boundaries, datastores, queues/workflows, APIs, failure modes, consistency under concurrency.
- Comfort reading, reviewing and challenging design documents, and sketching an architecture and sequence diagram.
- Strong English communication across global teams.
The interview process is fast: online assessment or practical task, then a role-specific interview and a CEO/final round, with offers aimed within a week of starting interviews.
