Staff Board Design Engineer (PCB CAD)

About the role

The Staff Board Design Engineer will translate system and architectural specifications into detailed hardware designs, creating schematics and collaborating with power, signal‑integrity and layout teams. The role also involves hands‑on lab work for power‑on testing, debugging and root‑cause analysis, as well as direct interaction with customers and technology suppliers.

Key responsibilities

• Develop server motherboards and add‑in cards from concept through schematics, PCB layout/CAD and hardware verification in the lab.
• Establish repeatable design processes, drive continual improvement, and reduce risk of errors.
• Collaborate with BIOS/firmware teams to define I/O pin specifications and ensure accurate hardware design documentation.
• Lead feasibility studies, prototype new technologies and support power‑on planning and board‑level testing.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering (Master’s preferred); 5+ years of industry experience.
• Proven ability to create detailed design specifications and develop test plans for new product features.

Required skills

• PCB CAD and schematic capture.
• High‑speed signal design and power distribution techniques.
• Experience with Intel/AMD/ARM/GPU platform architectures.
• Implementation of high‑speed serial buses (SAS, SATA, PCIe, InfiniBand, Fibre Channel, Ethernet).
• High‑speed memory interfaces (DDR4, DDR5, HBM2) and cache‑coherent links (CCIX, GenZ, CXL).
• Baseboard Management Controller (BMC) functionality.
