Software Engineer – Semiconductor & Display Solutions

About the role

As a Software Engineer at Applied Materials you will work on cutting‑edge technologies such as machine learning and AI to create software that solves high‑value problems for semiconductor and display customers. You will design, prototype, develop and debug software for equipment components, ensuring quality, functionality and customer satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with software preparation, verification, installation and upgrades.
• Train customers on software functionality and features.
• Troubleshoot, investigate, analyse and classify complex software issues.
• Review and interpret complex software documentation.
• Act as a field expert for system software, focusing on customer satisfaction for APPLIED NEXX products.
• Collaborate with service and process teams to provide software solutions for field issues.
• Visit customer sites in Asia and Europe to support software upgrades and machine troubleshooting.
• Provide real‑time support for distributed I/O interfaces such as Modbus over Ethernet, EtherCat and legacy serial devices.
• Define software test plans for simulators.
• Communicate with internal and external customers for requirement analysis, project scheduling and software troubleshooting.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software/system engineering, electrical/electronic engineering, mathematics or a related field.
• 3–7 years of relevant experience in software development.
• Proficiency in C/C++.Net, C#, operating systems, networking principles, algorithms, multi‑threading and RPC.
