SoC Simulation Engineer (Virtual Platforms)

About the role

Marvell's MBE (Marvell Business Engine) group develops platform software, firmware, drivers and solutions for products such as processors, CXL memory expanders, storage controllers, Ethernet PHYs and data acceleration technologies. Within this group, Virtual Platforms is a team of engineers and designers that creates functional simulations for System-on-Chip (SoC) designs, helping to shorten time to market. This role is for a SoC Simulation Engineer who builds accurate and efficient functional models for simulating SoC designs.

Key responsibilities

• Create accurate and efficient functional models for simulating SoC designs.
• Work closely with software teams to gather inputs so that early-stage development can begin before physical silicon is available.
• Analyze simulation results to diagnose and resolve issues observed in firmware.
• Promote the adoption of virtual platforms within the company, highlighting their benefits for faster development and better collaboration.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or a related field with 3-5 years of related professional experience.
• Master's degree and/or PhD in a related field with 2-3 years of experience; other majors may be considered with sufficient knowledge or experience.
• Willingness to learn the company's technology, tools, Virtual Platforms and its SoCs during the first few months.
• Collaborative attitude and willingness to share knowledge with teammates.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of Python and C++.
• Fundamental understanding of firmware and software architecture.
• Desirable: experience with simulator technologies such as Virtualizer, Simics, QEMU or gem5.
• Highly valued: experience in computer architecture (ARM and/or RISC-V).
