Senior Software Engineer, Platform Experience Quality

About the role

Google is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to drive platform experience quality across its devices and services. You will work on large‑scale systems that power seamless interactions on mobile, desktop, and first‑party hardware, collaborating with cross‑functional teams to deliver reliable, high‑performance software.

Key responsibilities

• Write, test, and maintain production code for platform components.
• Lead or participate in design reviews, evaluating technology choices with peers and stakeholders.
• Review code contributions, ensuring adherence to style, testability, and efficiency standards.
• Produce and update documentation or educational content based on product changes and user feedback.
• Triaging and resolving platform‑related issues to maintain product quality.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of software development experience.
• 3+ years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products.
• 1+ year designing large‑scale applications and architecture.
• 3+ years working with mobile system components (touch, display, camera, audio, cellular, Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, USB, sensors, power, performance, security, etc.).
• Preferred: Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, 5+ years with data structures and algorithms, experience building mobile‑integrated tools, automated frameworks, monitoring systems, and improving testing effectiveness.

Required skills

• Proficiency in one or more programming languages.
• Strong knowledge of data structures and algorithms.
• Experience with large‑scale application design and architecture.
• Deep understanding of Android system components, interfaces, and protocols.
• Familiarity with mobile device hardware interfaces (touch, display, camera, audio, cellular, Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, USB, sensors, power management).
• Experience building testing frameworks and monitoring tools.
