Senior Backend Engineer – Playable Ads

About the role

Appier’s Playable Ads team builds AI‑powered ad experiences that drive higher engagement for top apps and games. We are looking for a senior backend engineer to design and operate the high‑performance services that generate creative assets, run ML models in production, and serve millions of users.

Key responsibilities

• Architect and develop scalable backend services and APIs using ASP.NET Core, from design through production operation.
• Design efficient database schemas and optimize data access across PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and ORM frameworks.
• Implement reliable, message‑driven communication using RabbitMQ, Kafka or NATS.
• Partner with ML scientists to build MLOps pipelines for model versioning, deployment, serving, and monitoring.
• Lead system design decisions, mentor team members, and drive the technical roadmap.
• Identify performance bottlenecks, profile critical components, and implement scalable solutions.
• Maintain system observability, incident management, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment workflows.
• Participate in on‑call rotation to ensure reliability and scalability.

Required profile

• Proficiency in C# and ASP.NET Core (or willingness to cross‑train from Java/Go).
• Proven experience building distributed systems and microservice architectures.
• Strong expertise with SQL/NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB) and ORM tools.
• Advanced knowledge of message brokers such as RabbitMQ, Kafka, or NATS.
• Solid understanding of asynchronous programming, threading, and parallelism.
• Hands‑on experience with Docker, container deployments, and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).
• Experience with CI/CD, observability tooling, and production operations.
• Clear communicator able to explain technical decisions to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
