Principal Quality Engineer – Asia Operations

About the role

The Principal Quality Engineer will lead quality engineering for high‑power continuous‑wave lasers and high‑speed photodiodes across Asia operations. This hands‑on role focuses on product performance, yield optimization, and production troubleshooting while ensuring seamless integration of new products into existing systems.

Key responsibilities

• Lead product quality engineering for high‑power CW lasers and photodiodes, guaranteeing delivery of quality products to customers.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, product engineering, planning, logistics, and reliability teams to maintain quality practices, performance, and on‑time delivery.
• Partner with contract manufacturers and suppliers to set quality expectations, monitor performance, resolve production issues, and verify corrective actions.
• Apply statistical methods to analyze reliability, yield, inspection, and test data; identify trends and drive improvements.
• Lead containment, root‑cause investigations, corrective/preventive actions, and follow‑up for product or process issues.
• Support new‑product introduction by reviewing quality risks, process controls, test readiness, and release status.
• Mentor multidisciplinary teams, promoting innovation, accountability, and collaborative problem solving.

Required profile

• Master's degree or higher in Electronic Engineering, Applied Physics, or a related field.
• At least 10 years of industrial experience in product or quality engineering, preferably with semiconductor lasers or photodiodes.
• Hands‑on knowledge of semiconductor‑laser or photodiode manufacturing, bar testing, chip‑on‑carrier assembly, packaging, or related test processes.
• Experience working with contract manufacturers and willingness to travel frequently as business needs require.

Required skills

• Statistical data analysis and reliability evaluation.
• Yield analysis and process control.
• Root‑cause investigation and corrective/preventive action implementation.
• Semiconductor laser and photodiode manufacturing techniques, including bar testing and chip‑on‑carrier assembly.

Working conditions

• Primarily onsite in a climate‑controlled professional office with regular interaction with manufacturing and laboratory teams.
• Frequent travel to contract manufacturers and global manufacturing sites as required.
