Principal Procurement / Purchasing Specialist

About the role

Renesas is seeking a Principal Procurement/Purchasing Specialist to lead strategic sourcing and commercial management of MLCC, inductors, and embedded substrates. The role combines deep technical knowledge of passive components with strong leadership to drive cost optimization, ensure supply continuity, and shape long‑term supplier strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Lead commercial negotiations on pricing, long‑term agreements, capacity, and payment terms for MLCC, inductors, and embedded substrates.
• Define and own the supplier strategy, making key decisions on selection, allocation, and risk mitigation.
• Execute cost‑optimization initiatives using cost breakdown analysis, should‑cost modeling, and localization strategies.
• Collaborate with Engineering and Product groups to align component readiness across NPI, ramp‑up, and lifecycle phases.
• Manage capacity planning, allocation, and long‑term supply assurance to guarantee continuity and resilience.
• Identify and mitigate supply‑chain risks such as capacity constraints, geopolitical exposure, and cost volatility.
• Oversee contract governance, including MSA, NDA, pricing frameworks, and commercial agreements.
• Drive supplier performance through structured reviews, KPI tracking, and continuous‑improvement programs.
• Escalate and resolve critical issues related to quality, delivery, capacity, and commercial disputes.

Required profile

• 10+ years of procurement or purchasing experience, preferably in semiconductor or electronics.
• Fluent English; Japanese language skills are a plus.
• Hands‑on experience or strong familiarity with passive components (MLCC, inductors, embedded substrates).
• Proven ability to influence cross‑functional teams and senior stakeholders.
