Met Lab Technician

About the role

The Met Lab Technician is responsible for preparing and evaluating metallurgical samples, coatings and materials used in aircraft engine component repair. The role involves both mechanical testing of coating specimens and supporting engineering projects with metallurgical analysis.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare samples for mechanical testing and metallurgical evaluation.
• Operate, maintain and calibrate metallurgical laboratory equipment.
• Follow laboratory procedures and safety protocols while using lab instruments.
• Perform incoming inspection of controlled materials when required.
• Coordinate with external vendors for metallurgical services, ensuring timely delivery of quotations, purchase orders and certificates.
• Collaborate with Engineering on new‑product‑introduction (NPI) metallurgical evaluations and analysis.

Required profile

• Minimum high school diploma with at least 3 years of relevant laboratory experience.
• Preferably a vocational or associate degree in Mechanical, Materials or Quality Assurance Engineering.
• Basic oral and written English communication skills.
