Industrial Design Manager – Tools & Outdoor

About the role

Stanley Black & Decker’s Tools & Outdoor division is seeking an Industrial Design Manager to lead the design team at the Taiwan Design Center. Reporting to the Senior Director of TDC and the HTAS Portfolio Design Manager, you will drive user‑centered product design for brands such as DEWALT, Stanley, Black + Decker and Craftsman.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and develop a multidisciplinary team of industrial designers and surfacers, fostering an inclusive and high‑performance culture.
• Plan, prioritize and manage day‑to‑day design tasks across multiple projects, using the company’s project‑management platform to track progress and meet deadlines.
• Collaborate with engineering, packaging, program development and brand teams to ensure design concepts meet functional, ergonomic and manufacturing requirements.
• Translate user insights and competitive intelligence into high‑quality 2D sketches, 3D models, renderings and detailed documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design or related field with 10 + years of professional design experience, preferably in hand tools or portable storage.
• Proven track record of leading complex design programs and delivering production‑ready solutions.
• Strong communication and stakeholder‑management skills, with fluency in English.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
• Experience using KeyShot for photorealistic rendering.
• Advanced 3D CAD solid and surfacing modeling, preferably CATIA.
• Skilled in hand‑sketching and visual concept development using a Wacom tablet.
