Hardware Design Engineer

About the role

Nable, an early‑stage nanotechnology company based in Neihu, Taipei, is looking for a Hardware Design Engineer to lead the mechanical design of its nanobubble generator systems. You will own the hardware development from prototype through to production‑ready units, collaborating directly with the founders on system‑level decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead system‑level mechanical design in SolidWorks, including frame, enclosure, component mounting, cable/hose routing, and access panels.
• Design electrical enclosures for thermal performance and IP65+ protection.
• Perform FEA (structural, thermal) and CFD (thermal management, internal flow) to validate designs before fabrication.
• Create and maintain engineering drawings, BOMs, tolerance stack‑ups, and build documentation.
• Build and assemble prototypes, develop verification test plans, and conduct root‑cause analysis on mechanical issues.
• Identify, evaluate, and qualify vendors and contract manufacturers across Taiwan and Asia, managing the mechanical BOM, quoting, lead times, and cost optimization.
• Coordinate design iterations, maintain engineering schedules, and collaborate with electrical, firmware, and controls teams on system integration.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering.
• 5+ years of experience designing physical hardware products through to production.
• Strong English communication; Mandarin is a significant plus.
• Willingness to travel to vendor facilities and pilot sites in Taiwan (10–20% of the role).

Required skills

• Proficiency in SolidWorks (complex assemblies, detailed drawings, clean file management).
• Hands‑on experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD).
• Design for Manufacturing (DFM) across sheet metal, CNC machining, welding/brazing, and injection molding.
• Expertise in GD&T, tolerance analysis, and stack‑up calculations.
• Experience managing vendor and supplier relationships for manufactured parts.
