Global Product Support Engineer (YTG)

About the role

The Global Product Support (YTG) role is responsible for analyzing, researching, and resolving software application and system issues for Applied Materials equipment. The engineer works independently to investigate high‑value problems, systemic bugs, and software failures, providing support to customers and field engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze, research and resolve moderate to high‑difficulty equipment software application and system issues, including high‑value problems and systemic bugs.
• Provide customer software support via the Software Ticketing system.
• Assist field engineers in analyzing software issues reported on customer tools and deliver updates to managers and stakeholders.
• Create, test, and verify Software Change Notifications and Key Feature Procedures for product software.
• Develop customer‑focused feature documentation for external software features.
• Participate in equipment software specification, design, testing, and documentation reviews as needed for customer requests.
• Train junior engineers on departmental and corporate procedures, as well as detailed product operation.
• Deliver training to customers and customer engineers on technical software products and system issues.

Required profile

• Higher‑level knowledge and skills within software support discipline, solving varied and moderately complex problems.
• Understanding of key business drivers and ability to apply that knowledge to accomplish tasks.
• Provides informal guidance to new team members without formal supervisory responsibilities.
• Analyzes straightforward problems using technical experience, judgment, and precedents.
• Impacts quality of own work and that of the team while working within guidelines and policies.
• Effectively explains complex information to others in straightforward situations.
