Director of Business Development

About the role

The Director of Business Development will lead growth and strategic partnership initiatives for The Icons, an international media platform, from its Taipei office. This full‑time, on‑site position focuses on expanding the platform’s reach in regional and global markets while aligning commercial activities with editorial standards.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and develop new business opportunities and strategic partnerships across key regional and global markets.
• Lead planning and execution of revenue‑generating initiatives, coordinate lead generation, and manage negotiation and closure of commercial agreements.
• Conduct market research, business planning, proposal development, and contract negotiation.
• Collaborate with editorial, marketing, and operations teams to ensure commercial strategies support the platform’s mission and editorial standards.
• Monitor performance metrics, refine business development strategies, and represent The Icons at industry events, conferences, and client meetings.

Required profile

• Proven track record in new‑business development and lead generation.
• Strong business planning abilities, including market analysis, forecasting, and strategic growth planning.
• Experience in contract negotiation and account management, with a focus on long‑term partnership stewardship.
• Background in media, international organisations, consulting, or related sectors, with familiarity in ESG and cross‑border business.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills in English; Mandarin proficiency is a plus.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively in an international, cross‑cultural environment.
