About the role

As a Field Service Engineer (Customer Engineer) at Applied Materials, you will act as the direct liaison with customers to install, maintain, and upgrade semiconductor and display equipment, using digital analytics and basic diagnostic techniques to resolve technical issues.

Key responsibilities

• Perform Tier I service activities independently and Tier II tasks with assistance.
• Execute routine preventative maintenance on electrical, vacuum, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic, and gas systems within established timeframes.
• Conduct quality repairs and verify operational quality of equipment unassisted.
• Communicate with customers and internal engineers to address fab issues and participate in escalation calls.
• Support preparation and delivery of technical information to internal and external stakeholders.

Required profile

• Demonstrated ability to diagnose and resolve recurring technical problems and execute escalation plans.
• Understanding of how individual duties integrate within the team and broader discipline.
• Responsibility for full customer satisfaction and adherence to safety procedures.
• Problem‑solving skills to recognize and resolve typical issues without supervisory approval.

Required skills

• Troubleshooting and diagnostic techniques.
• Preventive and corrective maintenance of electrical, vacuum, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic, and gas systems.
• Reading and interpreting circuit diagrams.
• Operation of test equipment and digital analytics tools.
