Abatement Systems Engineer

About the role

The Abatement Systems Engineer is responsible for the operational health and reliability of all abatement systems that support semiconductor process equipment. You will develop preventive maintenance strategies, drive continuous reliability improvements, and ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Own operational health and reliability of burn‑wet, plasma, and point‑of‑use abatement systems.
• Develop and execute preventive maintenance plans and perform corrective maintenance.
• Monitor equipment performance, analyze trends, and improve MTBF while reducing downtime.
• Maintain system documentation, operating procedures, and maintenance records.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, process, and controls‑related failures and coordinate repairs with OEMs.
• Lead root‑cause investigations for recurring failures and ensure safe handling of hazardous exhaust gases.
• Validate exhaust flow requirements, support new tool installations, and drive EHS best practices.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Environmental, Electrical, Instrumentation, Mechatronics engineering or related field.
• 5‑10 years of experience in semiconductor manufacturing, R&D labs, or facilities engineering.

Required skills

• Burn‑wet abatement systems.
• Plasma abatement systems.
• Point‑of‑use abatement systems.
• Utility systems knowledge (vacuum, exhaust, cooling water, chemical delivery, PLC, SCADA, sensors).
• Understanding of semiconductor processes that generate exhaust emissions (CVD, PVD, Etch, etc.).
