Process Instrumentation & Control Systems Engineer

About the role

3M is seeking a Process Instrumentation & Control Systems (PI&CS) Engineer to design, maintain, and improve control solutions for manufacturing processes. You will work in a collaborative environment that values innovation, safety, and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement, and optimise control systems for production lines.
• Support process automation, PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, and related platforms.
• Troubleshoot equipment, control logic, sensors, and system integration issues.
• Partner with manufacturing, maintenance, quality, EHS, and operations teams to resolve technical problems.
• Lead or support capital projects, equipment upgrades, and system migrations.
• Develop and maintain engineering documentation, control narratives, specifications, and SOPs.
• Analyse process performance to improve uptime, yield, quality, and cost.
• Assist root‑cause investigations and corrective actions for process or equipment failures.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical, Controls, Industrial Engineering or a related field.
• 3–5 years of hands‑on experience with PI&CS in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong analytical and root‑cause analysis capabilities.
• Ability to work cross‑functionally with operations, maintenance, quality, and leadership.
